The problem with posting early in the day is that you might find some great images later! After dinner Ceri and I take a walk, first in the Toronto Music Garden, and then over to the Harbourfront Centre. I don't need to tell you it was a beautiful evening.

Today I walk out to go shopping for my Happy Birthday Mom (and me) birthday party later. It's a luscious day. Luscious enough for a parade.
When I leave my place I am blown away by heart-stopping drumming coming up Lake Shore. I try to catch the fab drummers on video with my phone. (I fail. I can't see the bloody screen on my phone in the bright sun.) Turns out it's the Sikh community celebrating Khalsa Day. It sure was a pretty parade, all orange and yellow.
I take a few pictures, then walk up (five minutes) to the store and spend 30 minutes shopping. I walk back down and the parade is still filing through!
Later, Mom, my girls and Ceri and I have a birthday party for my mom. I make Lemon Asparagus Pasta, salad and grilled cherry tomatoes. We have cake, and we sing. We enjoy wonderful company.
It's a really good day.

Happy birthday me. We wake up and enjoy coffee in bed. My birthday present from Ceri is Springsteen tickets AND Cirque du Soleil tickets, both events to occur later in this summer. Yes, I am lucky. In so many ways more than tickets to great events.
We have breakfast, then I work on some marking for my almost-over Introduction to Creative Non-fiction class. We have a hard time deciding what to do, but we end up going to the Art Expo at the Toronto Convention Centre. We're glad we do - it's not over crowded and there are some great vendors.
After, we go over to the pub for a pint and share a snack of flatbread. Later, back at my place we order Chinese takeout and enjoy each other's company.
It was a low-key and really good birthday.

Waiting, slightly impatiently, for Ceri to come over after I get home from work. Impatient because he's been away for a week. I take a very short walk over to the gardens across the street to get my day's photos before making dinner.
It was a happy homecoming.
